What is a hyperconverged infrastructure? – Syneto Vocabulary
What exactly is a hyperconverged infrastructure? Because technical words can sound complicated, we have created the “Syneto Vocabulary”. This series of articles is meant to help you better grasp the most commonly used terms in our industry. In this article, we are sharing one of our favourites: hyperconverged infrastructure.
What is a hyperconverged infrastructure
We have described hyperconvergence before, as an IT architecture that combines storage, computing and networking elements in a single system. A hyperconverged infrastructure (or, in short, HCI) is the end-product of this combination of elements.
Because a hyperconverged infrastructure combines compute, storage and networking into a single server, it dramatically simplifies the infrastructure stack. This type of solution has been steadily growing in popularity, as it is more efficient and easier to manage than a traditional IT solution.
HCI has been developed as an answer to the need to overcome the limitations of traditional infrastructures, which are usually complex, costly and difficult to manage. As a better-integrated solution, a hyperconverged infrastructure is easier to manage, more efficient and can lower a company’s overall costs.
With an HCI, the customer can choose an easy-to-use solution that fits his specific needs. This solution is purchased from a single vendor, thus simplifying the acquisition and management processes.
The HYPERSeries hyperconverged infrastructure:
With the HYPERSeries Syneto has created a hyperconverged infrastructure designed specifically for the needs of small and medium-sized datacentres.
The HYPERSeries is a software-defined, hyperconverged, plug-and-play appliance, powered by SynetoOS. The product takes hyperconvergence one step forward, by unifying virtualisation, storage, backup, restore and disaster recovery services in a single solution.
