What is a hyperconverged infrastructure

We have described hyperconvergence before, as an IT architecture that combines storage, computing and networking elements in a single system. A hyperconverged infrastructure (or, in short, HCI) is the end-product of this combination of elements.

Because a hyperconverged infrastructure combines compute, storage and networking into a single server, it dramatically simplifies the infrastructure stack. This type of solution has been steadily growing in popularity, as it is more efficient and easier to manage than a traditional IT solution.
