Down to the last bit.
Italian companies are under cyber attack and IT managers are the hidden heroes of this war to protect data and business
In a market research study entitled: “At the heart of IT” carried out by Syneto in collaboration with Focus Management, we tried to tell the role of corporate IT from a different perspective, the human one: we put ourselves in the shoes of the IT Manager.
Stories, numbers, words and emotions about his way of experiencing the strategic change in Information Technology and data security.
The research brings to light unequivocal data on the subject of data security: in the last 18 months, 28.6% of IT Managers claim to have suffered a ransomware attack in their company. A number that becomes even more worrying if we consider that many IT Managers prefer not to declare having suffered this type of attack.
We wondered how Italian companies are doing in this scenario and asked a sample of IT Managers (350) who are on the front line as people as well as professionals. The research was not limited to the issue of security but investigated other elements, such as the evolution of the role, skills, training and self-perception with respect to the role played.
On the one hand, some do not realise the real risk they are running and others do not know how to manage this threat with their current tools and skills. In the research, new needs emerge on the part of IT managers.
Under the impetus of digital transformation, the perception comes to light that their skills are not always adequate and their very work is put at risk.
In fact, 95 per cent of respondents say they are worried about a possible exit if they fail to keep up with the times.
Digital transformation and IT security are changing the business organisation and consequently the role of IT from a staff function supporting the business to a strategic function for the business.
Against this backdrop, we see the disorientation of IT managers who are looking for tools to evolve their skills such as online courses, certifications, and magazine consultations.
“Syneto’s mission is to democratise technologies and offer 100 per cent data protection to SMEs,” comments Vadim Comanescu, CEO. “What sets our company apart,” he adds, “is offering enterprise-grade technologies to SMEs, combining management simplicity and operational agility. Our Hybrid Cloud platform is universal, simple, fast and secure to manage and protect all data: anytime, anywhere.”
The dream of democratising technology and making SMEs compete on the road to security is possible thanks to the design and launch of HYPER Edge. “In order to manage and protect corporate data from any attack, taking into account the needs of professional firms (architects, engineers, accountants, notaries, lawyers, designers), remote offices, hotels, dislocated offices and retail (franchising chains, pharmacies and medical laboratories), we put our best engineers to work – continues Vadim Comanescu – it was unthinkable to create a server-type technology for reasons of both space and noise. With Hyper Edge, we have implemented true miniaturisation, creating the smallest data centre ‘in a box’.
Syneto is not just a technology partner but a thought leader. “That is why we decided to develop a course called IT Hero in collaboration with SDA Bocconi and Politecnico di Milano,’ comments Alessandro Biagi, Marketing Manager. Twelve hours, eight meetings with seven experts dealing with the topics of the technological evolution we are experiencing. A real free course to support IT Managers in this new challenge.
What we are witnessing is a revolution for corporate IT, and Syneto has defined the prerequisites for being a protagonist with SMEs in this new era: a road to be led side by side with companies on the road to data protection.
