A hybrid cloud is, essentially, a mix between a private and a public cloud. The degree to which each of these is used varies according to an organisation\u2019s needs. We have already talked about what a hybrid cloud is, in a dedicated Syneto Vocabulary post<\/em><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to research<\/a> <\/span><\/em>conducted by the Cloud Transformation Observatory, the public and hybrid cloud market has increased by about +30% in 2019 vs. 2020. It is believed that this cloud adoption has in part been accelerated by the current health crisis. Cloud adoption rates have risen, for example, within SMBs, who have been forced by the realities of smart work and IT threats to embrace a new IT model.<\/p>\n

The hybrid cloud\u2019s recent popularity gain can be explained through the benefits it offers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

5 benefits of a hybrid cloud<\/h3>\n

A hybrid cloud architecture can bring the best of both worlds, combining some of the benefits of a private cloud with those of a public cloud. Here are some of the most common benefits that a hybrid cloud may offer:<\/p>\n

  1. Scalability<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Maintaining a private cloud alone can raise the challenge of scalability. But in the case of a mixed environment, the resources on the private cloud can be scaled independently from the ones in the cloud. Critical data can continue to be used in the private cloud, but organizations also use the power of cloud computing to increase their operational capacity.<\/p>\n

    This leads us to another benefit: flexibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

      The hybrid cloud also allows users to transfer resources from the private element to the public cloud if that is needed. This can be done for a variety of data, depending on an organisation\u2019s needs and types of data.<\/p>\n

        There are a few ways in which a hybrid cloud can offer more security that a \u201esimple\u201d cloud model. In a common architecture scenario, essential data is kept on-premises, in a private cloud, while data such as analytics and archiving can be kept in a public cloud.\u00a0The private cloud generally offers more control in terms of data security and recovery.<\/p>\n

          As previously pointed out, a hybrid cloud model will allow the user a high degree of control on the private cloud. In this scenario, the internal IT team can hold control of critical data and applications, as well as fast management of the infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

          1. Costs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The flexibility of the hybrid cloud is also reflected in terms of costs. This model can be very cost-efficient because of its ability to organize, use, and scale resources however they need to. Private and public cloud resources can be scaled individually, thus making the cost element easy to manage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
