Syneto helps Serioplast halve its IT spend and cut storage admin times with 22 ULTRA arrays
Milano, Italy – 20th of September, 2016 – Syneto, has announced that it has deployed 22 ULTRA Series arrays at Serioplast, the largest Italian supplier of customised, rigid plastic bottle packaging and a European leader in the field. The company provides packaging for some of the largest multinational brands in the mass consumer goods market. The solution, which includes a comprehensive data recovery (DR) system to 20 remote offices and provides 80TBs of data, has already cut IT licensing spending by 25% and has reduced datacentre administration times by 35% percent.
The team at Serioplast was seeking to replace a disparate and resource-intensive storage infrastructure to meet the needs of its growing business. With more than 1,200 employees spread across 12 countries and in several time zones, Serioplast needed company-wide data access 24/7. As such, the IT team turned to distributor Newtech and channel partner R1 to identify the best solution to replace old datacentre hardware at each location with new uniform and robust storage which could also offer a sound DR strategy.
The Serioplast team wanted a single vendor to consolidate its diverse storage and server infrastructure as well as improve file sharing and overall IT performance through virtualisation. The new DR system would need to replicate data from the branch offices to the HQ to ensure business continuity and reduce downtime, should a remote office experience an outage of any kind.
Syneto was chosen because the solution delivers an easy to manage, comprehensive and consolidated datacentre whereby the DR system includes two hyper-converged ULTRA Series 220 arrays in the head office that replicate data between them for business continuity, with a further 20 hyper-converged ULTRA Series 205 in the branch offices that replicate data snapshots to the arrays at the HQ for safety and continued access in case of a disaster. These capabilities were particularly appealing to the IT administrators at Serioplast as, combined, they helped to reduce complexity. With the Syneto solution, all of the company’s files and VMs that were previously running on dozens of separate file, application and backup servers in the branch offices and the HQ are now consolidated.
“Syneto has not only made our IT infrastructure seamless, easier to manage, faster and more robust, but we have also cut our IT licensing spending by 25% and datacentre management times by 35%. Syneto has given us the most effective technology to take our business forward. We looked at comparable products in the market but Syneto’s was by far the one that made the most sense for us,”
Syneto’s solution has already helped Serioplast’s IT management make significant time savings as the team is now managing just 22 hyper-converged platforms rather than 65 separate servers. Furthermore, instead of having to licence, upgrade and pay maintenance for separate file, application and backup servers, Serioplast now only has to upgrade and maintain 22 Syneto hyper-converged ULTRA Series arrays which is also a major saving in both time and money.
“The powerful ULTRA Series arrays were perfectly matched to Serioplast’s requirements and have provided a highly reliable, cost effective and easy to use turnkey solution. The arrays have not only simplified the datacentre, but have saved this organisation significant costs and have allowed the IT team to concentrate on core business activities rather than datacentre administration,”
Syneto transforms the way organisations of all sizes manage their data and applications and helps them achieve their most important IT objectives: lower costs and faster resource deployment. Syneto’s highly usable storage technology enables customers to create hyper-converged as well as software-defined storage infrastructures. Its powerful analytics capabilities help organisations make informed, effective data-driven decisions and deploy revenue-generating applications quickly, easily and with confidence.
