Chapter 01 · Overview

A lighting leader with all data on the line.

Founded in 1973, Simes is a modern company dedicated to the production of outdoor lighting fixtures. Under the motto "Light for architecture", it has grown into an international market leader, designing intelligent, sustainable and recyclable LED products with very high lighting performance. Its entire production cycle takes place in Italy, in Franciacorta — a sign of the company's deep roots in its native territory and its commitment to Made in Italy.

Simes works alongside architects, landscapers, urban planners and engineers, so the projects of its lighting-engineering office, its corporate email, and every file users save to the server are strategic and business-critical. The company needed to replace three physical servers with a virtual infrastructure, and wanted technology capable of strengthening data security — particularly against cryptolockers — together with real-time protection and an easily achievable disaster-recovery plan.
