A global rigid-plastics manufacturer replaced a disparate, resource-intensive storage estate with a uniform Syneto hyper-converged platform across its headquarters and 20 secondary offices — adding company-wide disaster recovery and cutting IT licensing costs by 25%.
Serioplast has manufactured customized rigid plastic bottles for major multinational brands since 1974. Part of Old Mill Holding — 20 factories across 12 countries and a turnover of 285 million Euros in 2015 — the company needed 24/7, company-wide data access for its 1,100+ employees.
The challenge was to replace a disparate and resource-intensive storage infrastructure that no longer met the needs of a growing business. Old hardware at each location had to give way to new, uniform and robust storage that also delivered disaster recovery — with a single vendor able to consolidate diverse storage and servers, improve file sharing, and raise overall IT performance through virtualisation.
A Syneto system comprising 22 ULTRA Series hyper-converged arrays was implemented. All of the files and VMs that previously ran on dozens of separate file, application and backup servers across the branch offices and headquarters were consolidated onto the new Syneto platform.
Two hyper-converged ULTRA Series 220 arrays in the head office replicate data between them for business continuity, hosting 20+ virtual servers.
Twenty hyper-converged ULTRA Series 205 arrays in the branch offices replicate data snapshots back to the HQ for safety and continued access in case of a disaster.
InstaSnap technology drives snapshot replication from all 20 secondary offices to the headquarters, ensuring branch data survives a remote outage of any kind.
Storage, servers and backup unified under one vendor. The IT team now manages just 22 hyper-converged platforms instead of 65 separate servers.
Syneto's solution made Serioplast's IT infrastructure seamless, easier to manage, faster and more robust — while delivering measurable savings in both licensing and management time across the whole estate.
