The Monza e Brianza Foundation for the Child and Mother chose Syneto to consolidate and protect patient data, and to virtualize the applications behind its pediatric leukemia research.
The Fondazione Monza e Brianza per il Bambino e la sua Mamma (MBBM) was founded in 2005 with the goal of creating the Istituto Maria Letizia Verga, the largest center in Europe dedicated to childhood leukemia research. Its mission unites direct patient care with the clinical research that drives better treatment.
Research has shown that the best "medicine" for sick children is the company of their parents. Yet relatives could not always stay close to them, surrounded as they were by heavy, noisy medical machinery. The foundation needed an IT system that could monitor each patient's health status without human intervention, and collect and use patient data for both research and diagnosis.
The foundation needed to track each patient's health status automatically, so heavy, noisy machinery would no longer keep relatives away from the children.
Clinical data had to be gathered and put to work for both research and diagnosis, not left scattered across isolated systems.
The foundation deployed Syneto within its IT structure to transmit patient health data in real time. With that data flowing automatically, relatives can now enter the hospital rooms at appropriate times, while the data itself is stored on the Syneto infrastructure and reused to monitor the evolution of the disease and to conduct research.
A single all-in-one Syneto solution collects and protects the patient data, replacing scattered systems with one consolidated, dependable platform.
The same IT infrastructure runs the applications required for medical research, so storage and compute live together on one footprint.
Patient health status is transmitted automatically, without human intervention, supporting both care and the timing of family visits.
Data stored on Syneto is safeguarded and made available for diagnosis and long-term research into the evolution of the disease.
With Syneto in place, the foundation turned a fragmented IT setup into one platform that monitors patients automatically, keeps clinical data protected, and powers the research applications behind its mission.
By consolidating data and applications on Syneto, the foundation turned IT into an enabler of both clinical research and the human side of care for children with leukemia.
